Why this guide exists

Every family that hires an estate sale company has the same story: a parent has passed, or is downsizing, or is moving into memory care. Somebody has to sort through decades of a home. And when you search "estate sale companies near me," you get a wall of directory pages selling your contact info to whoever pays.

The Estate Sale Guide is the opposite of that. It's a hand-verified directory of the specific companies that actually run estate sales across the Carolinas — plus a growing library of plain-English guides on how commissions work, what a contract should say, what red flags to look for, and how licensing varies from state to state. Independent. Family-facing. No lead brokers.

Where to start
How we verify listings
  • Every seed listing was fetched live from the company's own website during research — never assembled from scraped aggregator data.
  • Companies get 'verified active' only when we confirm recent, live activity on EstateSales.net, EstateSales.org, or an equivalent marketplace.
  • Descriptions are paraphrased or quoted directly from the company's own copy — not thin AI paraphrases.
  • Phone numbers are only shown when the company publishes them on their own site. No sold contact info.
  • Companies can claim their listing at any time with a verified email at the same domain as their website.

Who runs this

The Estate Sale Guide is a project of Nine Eight Digital, a small independent publisher based in Huntersville, North Carolina. We build editorial-first local directories that put families and small businesses first, not lead-broker economics.

Sister publications: The Carolina Venue Guide, STR Pros Southeast, and MSP by Industry.

A note on independence

Listings never come with strings attached: rank is never sold, and we never take a commission on jobs booked through the site. Companies who claim a listing during our founding-member window get expanded features (photos, past-sale galleries, inquiry contact) at a one-time discount, but the underlying free listing stays free forever.
